My 2020 has had a handful of conversations with schools this summer, all facilitated by his travel coach.  A few have mentioned to him that they would "Love to have him up for a visit after September 1".  (My son can't recall if they mentioned "official" or not.)

I'm trying to figure out what level of interest these invitations might represent...is there a limit on the number of official visits that a school can offer per class?  (I know that the student is limited to five.)

Two of the schools are high on my son's list, so wondering if he should focus on those or continue to cast the net.

Thanks.

Last season I tried to advise a rising HS senior on how to manage this process. He (and his dad) didn't listen to me.  They thought they could spend all fall collecting offers and sit back and compare and think about it, and think about it.  I think you get the idea.  School after school got tired of waiting on him and moved on to the next player (that was willing to commit).  Kid had a good senior year but ended up with only a JuCo roster spot offer.  Point being, if 2 of your wish list schools are interested in your son, now is the time to act.  Schedule visits and see what happens.  Don't close any doors, but absolutely focus on those 2 and see what develops.  If you get a good offer don't balk at taking it.

Thanks, that is my inclination.  He had a strong Summer and this may be the time he has most leverage.

You have nothing to lose and everything to gain especially if he had a great summer.  At the least, you and your son get recruiting experience about the process and the marketplace.  At the most, he gets an offer.   What are waiting for...don't keep reading this sentence...get your son to call them and set it up now!

PS...Keep the travel coach updated and in the loop.  He is your facilitator.

If I remember correctly, official visit cannot happen until first day of school senior year. Unofficial visits can be unlimited except for dead periods I believe.

New rules. Either way I don't think schools are using them. Pretty sure they're still saving them for their committed seniors right before the sign their NLI. Get them all up for a football game/that type deal.
