I wish some of you (TPM) didn't feel the need to respond almost every topic in almost every forum!
If you don't like what's being asked or agree with what is being discussed, move on.

Nothing quite like burying your head in the sand - eh?

You need to take some of your own advice pal.
As the op, I have no problem with what TPM has added to this thread. She has good knowledge on this subject. Unless I'm confusing her with another poster, I believe her son has done better then most of our kids could ever aspire to. I appreciate the feedback.
Sending out letters to Colleges is an exciting time for every player and for the parents as well. Casting a wide net to many colleges is a tried and true method that many if not most have attempted. Why not, right? But what many parents and players need to do is sit down and assess what talent each school they intend to reach out to has, i.e. look at the team's archives, current roster, read the bio's to learn about the talent level of existing pitchers, after November early signing date check the sites to see who've they signed. I promise that spending time at minimum on a team's website will give you a very, very good idea of where your son's talents really fall. Honestly. Sometimes it could be a humble pill to swallow but why not contact coaches/colleges where perhaps your son has a real shot of one day playing? American Idol has taught us all over the years that honesty really IS the best policy!
It's been too long on here to remember WHO said it to me but it went something like this ~~ find a school where the coach see's real value in your son. Sometimes it may not be THE school you all thought he'd find but if they find you then open your eyes and ears. Let him go where they like him. He'll be much happier.
One last thing in regards to TPM. There are still a few of us HSBBW Old Timers still hanging around here hoping to pass on any advice and/or wisdom we hope can possibly help others. She certainly has always had a special way of delivering her own message at times....lol, but nevertheless you can take one thing to the bank - her advice and experience is straight and to the point. Everything she has learned about this sport, good and bad, has been as a loving, devoted Mom who like many parents rode this ride each day with her son. Watching him rise to MLB. If you don't like her style or method, don't take it personally. Relax. Breathe. This is supposed to be a place where we can come escape to after a long hard day. If you look for trouble and the worse in someone, most likely you will find it and you'll hate coming here. Instead try to understand where other's are coming from and that's usually with good intentions to share and help others.
Good luck to your son and I hope he finds the dream school that you both love and enjoy!
YGD
YGD,
Nice post, thanks. Just to make it clear, son made the 40 man but not the 25 man roster.
I better stop now before I get trashed again for posting in another topic!!!

Nice post YGD..much truth to it. My question to you: Is the coin that your emoji is flipping at the end of your post the same one they used in the Iowa primary?
I refuse to comment at this time due to fear of possible incrimination. I can say this statement per my Lawyer however, "I was in the certain vicinity of a known political compound when I reached into my pocket and heard what I thought was a coin hitting the ground. Later discovering to my chagrin that I was short .25 cents for a nice cold Mountain Dew."
I think it was the coin from No Country for Old Men
in the Iowa primary?

It's a caucus. Very different thing from primary. After two hours, if a coin flip will get you home, it starts to seem like a good plan.
Oh Iowamom, being from Ohio, you KNOW we got nothing else better to do while waiting for the snow outside to melt and the baseball gods to shine on us again.
Hang in there and debate vs coin flip
When one of our sons was going through the recruiting process, he was told "a No is only slightly worse than a Yes." Meaning that getting any answer was better than being in limbo. I'd be grateful that you know where you stand and move on.
Sounds like this school is a no go.
Did son only send to D1 schools? Has he been to showcases? Good luck in the process. My only advice is find what level son is at and get in front of those schools.
