Belmont Abbey is a very nice D2 program. It is located in Belmont NC just outside of Charlotte , NC. The HC and Head Assistant coaches left after last season and are now holding the same posistions at Lander Univ in Greenwood SC. They did a tremendous job building the program at Belmont. I do not know the current staff.

The facilities are very good and the school is beautiful and a very good academic university.
It depends on the school. There are situations where a recruited walk on is promised a roster spot.

IMO, the scholarship player has an advantage over the walk on, but I have seen a recruited walk on who was given a roster spot go from not playing to being the Sunday starter at a D1 school.

Like sgv, I have seen many invited walkons succeed spectacularly, starting as freshmen, getting drafted and playing pro baseball all the way up to the Major Leagues. I also have seen scholarship players leave after the fall semester freshman year because they were cut.

It does depend on the school -- and the player. Nothing is a given.
