Son uses a large Under Armour duffle for all his equip day to day. Got it for $40 from Amazon. Also holds 3 gloves & his cleats. His bats just stick out the top zipper. When he flies with his gear, bats are wrapped in Saran Wrap & go in a large suitcase w/ his clothes, and his mitt stays on his person. Rest of gear stays in the duffle. Nice and simple.

We use this one: https://www.easton.com/basebal...s/e100g-8014602.html

Bats actually fit lengthwise inside the bag and for extra protection we put them in cardboard mailing tubes (purchased at a UPS store for a few dollars). We have never had to pay any extra luggage fees so it seems this bag is within the standard bag size to check in. My son's mitt always goes with him in the carry-on bag.

My son has done this a few times. He always carries on his gloves, catcher's gear, and uniform jersey (i.e. the things he can't borrow from teammates). The first two times, he packed his bats in his catcher's bag, surrounded by clothes and checked the whole thing. The most recent time he packed his bats in a marucci bat quiver (fits three bats) and checked that separately from this gear bag (still filled with clothes). Although bats are expensive, they are the easiest thing to borrow or replace on short notice.
