HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP
Ridener (4 goals) powers Taravella 5-1
From Herald Staff Reports

Sophomore striker Stephanie Ridener scored four goals Thursday to power the Taravella girls' s****r team past Coral Springs 5-1.

Jamie Barenbaum had the other goal for the Trojans, who improved to 10-5. Erica Barenbaum added three assists, and keeper Alysse Rothbaum made 10 saves.

It was the first four-goal game of the season for Ridener, who leads Taravella in goals (14) and assists (11). Ridener has scored two goals in three games this year.

''She's versatile,'' Taravella coach Kim Chamberlin said. ``I can put her anywhere. I played her at sweeper against Douglas earlier this week. She's definitely goal-driven, in both ways. She's a very determined athlete. She's got big plans. I'd like to see her play college ball.''

Ridener scored the first four goals of the game against the Colts.

''It's just starting to pay off for her,'' Chamberlin said. ``Her father is constantly telling her she needs to do the best she can. We set high expectations for her and she comes through.

``She's young. By the time she's a senior, she'll be a good leader on the field as well.''

Sincere congratulations on Stephanie's success - a four goal game is something to really celebrate greenjump. Does the belly button piercing have anything to do with this, perhaps??? Sounds like you've got a family of great athletes -- who would have thunk it after the pictures we've seen of papa. Obviously the kids take after Mrs. Big.... Big Grin Hmmm... 'goal driven, determined, big plans, father constantly telling her...' I'm thinking that there are some traits similar to what we see sometimes here on the HSBBWeb??? duel Smile Congratulations again -- btw, the last sentence of the article is the best one of all!

Big ...

Nice story ... even for those of us who don't believe that kicking a spotted ball around on a field is a "real" sport.

Congrats to you and Mrs Big and Stephanie ... she (Steph) sounds like a real winner in all areas, and has a great future in store.

And thanks for sharing ... those of us without "little women" in the house love to hear of the successes of the gals.

H-mom
