Ted Williams and Bob Feller are often credited with their WWII service and rightfully so but no one hardly ever mentions that Hank Greenberg also served in the War as well. Greenberg was a tremendous player who also suffered many indignities but like Jackie Robinson, suffered them with class. Of course, Sandy Koufax is another great player who comes immediately to mind but of course there were others.

Bill Veck is another who deserves mention although he was not a player. A great documentary is on Showtime from time to time about Larry Doby who was almost forgotten after all the hoopla with Jackie Robinson. Bill Veck was talked about in detail in that documentary.
