I'm only in a couple of chapters. While it's very interesting, there hasn't been anything spectacular in it.

George Steinbrenner...already knew he was irrational and power-hungry.

Derek Jeter...already knew about his confidence, smarts for the game and lack of range.

David Wells...already knew he was an incredibly out of shape, selfish player who can REALLY pitch when he wants to.

Actually, there are some interesting insights into the personalities of David Cone and Paul O'Neill that I wasn't aware of.

Haven't gotten to A-Rod yet.
Although Torre's a hippocrite with his loose lips from the clubhouse, most of what I got from the excerpts is nothing Yankee fans didn't already know already such as Jeter being one of his boys and the Afraud.. Most Yankee fans had a number of Fill-in-the-blank-Rods for his post-season failures and his concern of his reputation and how he looks as a Yankee and his jealousy that the Yankees are Jeter's team.

While the stuff he writes don't sound earth-shattering, he might not be getting his #6 retired any time soon or have a Joe Torre day at Yankee Stadium since the motivation behind the book is of course, the money and to stick it to Cashman and the Steinbrenner sons' for feeling dissed when renegotiating his next contract when the Yankees didn't appear to have any real intenrtion of bringing him back since the last few years, the Yankees were one-and-done in the playoffs with teams that should've done better.

How Disappointing. IS nothing sacred? I always thought there was an unwritten rule that "whatever happens in baseball stays in baseball". Mr. Torre's actions are more that of a spoiled child than a lifelong baseball professional. Perhaps he and Canseco can do a book signing together as this puts them on the same level.
