Was recently told that my son may not get drafted because he has signed with a D1 and won't sign with a juco. Is this pretty normal? He opted not to sign with a juco because he felt that when he committed to the D1 that signing with a juco showed that he wasn't really committed. I know that he is not a top pick by any means, but he is a kid that does not need millions to sign. I am worried that now he won't even be considered. Is this possibly true? The only way he wouldn't go to the D1 he signed with would be if he had a chance to pursue his dream and be able to support himself.

Diamond Mom,

I think an important point is that most of these boys, signing out of high school canNOT support themselves, unless they are very high round. I believe the reason these scouts call/send questionaires, is to feel you son out on his signability. So if you indicate he's completely open to the possibility of signing, then they may consider him....I would think anyway.
