Researched some older posts from about 5 years ago re: good JUCO's in these states but would like some recent input. Solid program, good location, pitching staff & facilities. Upcoming JUCO showcases?
Lots of not good, but GREAT programs in these states. Check out Jefferson College, Crowder College, Wabash Valley, Southwest Illinois (SWIC), Heartland College, Iowa Western, Kirkwood, all top programs that put plenty of kids in D1. The best facility is probably Heartland that plays at the Corncrib (and is coached by a Atlanta Braves scout)...
Those are the same great schools as posted back in 2005 so I guess the tradition continues as many of them are ranked in the top 50 JUCOS. So, is it realistic that a 6'4 pitcher throwing mid 80's can even play NJCAA DIV.I? I don't mean the top 50 but I do mean DIV.I because the scholarship could be housing in addition to books and tuition. It seems like the competition is pretty stiff in that pitchers are 1. good enough to play NCAA Div I but opt to play NJCAA I. 2. pitchers that play a year of NCAA and transfer to NJCAA I as sophmores because of grades or maybe lack of playing time. 3. players transferring from other JUCOS.
