Son is late bloomer at local Juco - had TJ in 2017 and then took a redshirt to get his feet under him in 2019 so was behind with recruiting.   6’4” hitting 90/91 and has really developed a nice CB.  Had great first outing and has attracted some attention.  Has D1 offer with several others looking but thinks he will have some better D1 schools contact him this season.  Big issue is when to make visits to see if any of these are a fit.  Hard to do during the season, does anyone have experience with this situation?

Son played for a JuCo for two years (position player - 1B/DH).   Towards the end of his sophomore year several D3 schools expressed interest in him, but nothing firm.   The day after he moved home he received a text from an assistant coach at a out of state D2 stating they were fully funded and wanted him to visit.  A week later he and I visited the campus where he was shown around the campus by the assistant coach and interviewed with the head coach.  About a week later he received a firm offer ($9,000 scholarship + $2,250 in grants) which he accepted.   Note - Cost of Attendance was $26K - basically the scholarship helped bring the cost to almost what an in state student would have paid.

I remember it was late enough in the season that we had to make decisions in a timely manner.    There wasn't a lot of time to waste.

That was his experience about 5 years ago.

Teammate of 57special Jr. started off hot in a JUCO last fall, and was recruited by Dallas Baptist before the fall season was finished. don't know the ins and outs of it. The D1's should understand the timelines...they themselves are right in the middle of a very busy season. Anyone pressuring you to commit immediately is being unreasonable.
