June MLB draft

Talked about this particular subject last night with one area scout last night. 3 of the kids you have listed have fallen and 3 have risen. 2 are keepers and one is college bound. These 8 are the easy ones. He mentioned a few that would get the curious mind going.

I wish Chase Reid was at Keller, if that was the case Keller would be in First and SLC would be playing Coppell.

What about Kenny Gilbert from DeSoto???? One of the boys on the list quit his baseball team during the season, will that affect anything???

PD, You better run this by KG first. Oh wait I didn't see any bullpen catchers on there.

Kenny Gilbert will get drafted as will Springer from Denton.

TimeToStepUp -- I just threw the list out there as a starting point. I have a pretty good idea on the "movement" that you describe, but I included their names anyway. My intent was to have YOU dig so I could sit back and observe.

I agree with adding Gilbert to the list and I wondered about Springer, but hadn't heard his name mentioned definitively.

Actually, I only see 5 of the names as "sure things". I'll add a few more for the sake of ongoing discussion.

Garrett Buechele 3B from Lamar in Arlington will get drafted. It will probably be later rounds. He had a solid season and has great bloodlines.

IMO, Terrance Jackson, Carrollton Newman Smith, was one of the best prospects that Coppell played this year. A left hander with a 90 MPH fastball and a super athlete. I don't think that he was as "polished" as some of the other names mentioned above at the high school level but he has tremendous potential.

I no longer dream about playing in the big leagues but I sure can dunk over the NBA guys on a regular basis.

They both attended BSU.

I went there for a year and dropped out.

They were a year ahead of me.

As I recall, they both graduated magna cum laudely in BS.

Texan and I finished up at other less prestigious schools with a minor in BS.

I'm certain you're always correct in your assessments.
I too, was an attendee of BSU for a brief period (many years later), until I was dismissed due to my academic prowess.
And FO was going for the southern drawl in his writing. Such as our own Julia Roberts used in Steel Magnolias. It added style to his work.

Mike Marshall out of El Paso Franklin will probably get a look see also.

Nope....sorry. You must have at least put a jock strap on at the JV level. Just washing them don't count and sitting in the stands with a Booster Club pin only counts for a free coffee when you get cold in early Feb.

I am assuming you are talking primarily about the Metroplex. Jason Pearce from Naaman Forest could sneak in to the later rounds. I have also heard rumors that a certain PESH Panther outfielder has attracted some attention.

Uncle Ethan -- it would be fun if Chris were drafted -- couldn't happen to a better kid. Regarding the NF kid....every year there are kids that may not get a lot of pro "attention" but their names are called in June. It's an intriguing process.

Fleece is a beast! I think he'll be an Aggie though.

Just curious.....How is Kyle Russell Draft Eligible? He is only a Sophmore.

If he was red-shirted and has turned 21, he is eligible (I think).

He graduated from Tomball in 2005. My Senior played against him his Soph year in the Playoffs.

Is Clark from UT draft eligible?

Kyle will be 21 on June 27th.

I watched him when he was a frosh and soph at my old high school before his family moved to Tomball. The dude can flat out play!

He was in right field, made a few good plays and hit the snot out of the ball, after the game I asked my old coach who it was in rt field, first thing out of his mouth was...."He's a freshman!"

RHP Barret Loux, Stratford is a definate HS prospect. After weeks off the mound, he pitched 1st playoff game in front of 50+ scouts, hitting 90-91 consistantly & topping at 93. Word is 6 different scouting directors were on hand.

Yes, I believe Clark is draft-eligible.

Walden is at Grayson J.C. Is he draft-eligible? and if so is he still a prospect? and if so when does the team that drafted him last year lose rights to him?

I think they can sign him up until a week before the 2007 draft. Yes, he is eligible and YES, he is a prospect.

The Rangers are watching Gary Poynter closely at Weatherford. He has signed with OU for the 2008 school year....and could be drafted again in June.

Well its up to the Rangers, Gary threw 91-94 mph Saturday afternoon. If not he is off to OU where he will finally have a pitching coach.
