2013 RHP Son has not received very much notice due to coming back from TJ surgery and missing Sophomore and Junior seasons (Along with the summer schedule of tournaments, etc.) He is a young 2013 as well.

We are targeting JUCO's and the one D2 who has approached him. To his way of thinking, it is a negative for him to transfer out in 2 years. He thinks the players on the team won't be as focused on the "team comes before the individual" concept he enjoys with his high school team because the players arent together as long.

I was hoping some folks could offer insights on going JUCO then transfering to a 4 year institution. To me it makes sense because he still hasn't completely filled out, and he needs to catch up from the past two years. (Assuming of course he can even find a JUCO that will take him.)

My son came out of high school highly recruited but decided to go Juco for a shot at the draft . First year hurt his MCL and transferred to another small D1 Juco in Alabama . He is very happy with decision and will probaly go to a very good D1 located in Florida come spring . So IMO your kid can do just fine playing for a small college and working on getting better . Good luck to him in the future .
My son also had hopes for the draft out of HS, therefore he turned down several D1 and D2 offers and went the JUCO route.

It did not benefit him as far as the draft went, each year he was disappointed.

However, it did benefit him in the long run in several ways. First and foremost he proved himself to be a starter in the middle of the infield and a hitter in the meat of the order. He was able to play every inning of every game for his two years in JUCO which allowed him to develop his skills.

When he transferred to a 4 year program he was brought in as a starter and again never sat.

Many players that go to 4 year programs do not get the opportunity to get the playing time that my son enjoyed.

It was a fun 4 years, and we were in a position to watch our son play every game.

He was baseball focused, so it worked out well for our son.

My son played two years at a juco and from what I saw JUCO teams have just as much team chemistry as any other team. His first year he actually joined the team at the start of the spring semester. His teams both years were very tight and both years the team brought in players as sophomore transfers.

It takes about a week of practice for a bunch of players to become a team with the right players.

Son just started at a four year school and already he is very tight with his new teammates. Bottom line to me is that I don't think your son has anything to worry about regarding team vs individual
