It’s doesn’t show him as a volunteer .
If the camps bring in enough money they might be able to outpay whatever he was previously making. Tack that onto showcase appearances every weekend over the summer and it can add up to more than what he was doing at his former job. Especially at a school like IU where it is very much a brand and their presence is in high demand for showcases, camps, clinics, etc. From what I understand 300-500 is the norm for an appearance for one day for some of the bigger schools. A school like IU maybe more. But at a school like IU there are likely bonuses, incentives, etc that come along with that contract. Bloomington not a bad place to live either, very low COL.

OK, you have convinced me that this is a step up for Simmons. Any thoughts on where this leaves Kent State? Especially at this stage of the recruiting cycle?
I don't know Simmons or any of the coaching staff at Kent State, but any players who were being heavily recruited by Simmons to Kent State to sign this Fall should do their best to spend some time interacting with the head coach between now and signing day to gauge his level of interest.
As some of you I'm sure have experienced, when an athlete's lead recruiter leaves a program, sometimes their best shot at playing time leaves with the recruiter if the head coach didn't view their potential the same way the lead recruiter did.
Our frequent advice to recruits and parents - spend as much time as possible interacting with the head coach since he's the one that usually makes out the starting lineup.
We visited Derek at KSU years ago when son was touring schools. They are local to us..like 10 minutes away and have a solid program. He left there and went to Alabama and i guess from there to another school, then Kent, now Indiana. Talk about moving for a job. Good guy, solid rc.
