By the end of reading this, I hope everyone can smell what I'm steppin in. On this moonlight night I thought to myself "I wonder what my comrades deep in the heart are chewin the fat about?". I must say, I was sorely disappointed to see the self-promotion going on here. I am not aiming my bullets of words towards and particular person but we all need to think.

Self promotion of your son and yourself always leads to implosion. Parents will get caught up in the act of "My sons going to be here....My son is a top notch athlete...." BLAH BLAH. Honestly folks, If your son is good people will know. You really should not feel the need to give us the 411 on your son(sorry for the Rhyme line). Usually these people end up poor as a church house mouse. People like this feel like what their son does on the field is not getting his proper due. Well, hate to break it to ya but if your son is the Real McCoy, people will know without you proclaiming your younger image of yourself(AKA your son).

Sorry for the length but the press is hot,

OK, As Doc Holiday once said "I'm your Huckleberry"

Maybe your right and I need sleep, but I haven't been part of son promotion or seen anyone one else that has been recently.

All I asked was who was playing basketball, I never said if my son started or scored so many points. I haven't seen other that have either,

So Big Al KLine, (TOP Notch...sounds like a little self promotion doesn't it?) please be more specific in your wisdom on how any of us have been guilty of self promotion. Maybe it is you that needs to look in the mirror when it comes to self promotion.
since corny sayings seem to be the thing to do in this thread let me start by saying "i don't have a dog in this fight". However, I have numerous comments from Meatsdad and think calling him out like this is uncalled for. we know Meatsdad (some of us only virtually), we know he has a kid, we know he has gone through the same things that we have in trying to develop, protect, and promote his kid. we don't know you guys. so please, try to get to know us before making accusations.
I have to say I agree with Al on this one. The texas forum is loaded with self promotion especially during high school and summer seasons.

What makes it funny is some people are dumb enough to think it will make a difference in his college choices, etc.

While this is a public board, and people should be able to post what they want, within reason, it is quite amusing at times. Kind of like reading the comics.
Self-promotion? I see very little of it on the Texas board.

Sure sometimes someone shares how their kid did. What is so wrong with that? So they are proud of the kid. I'm glad they are proud of them. This doesn't mean they have some agenda of "promotion". I think that the vast majority of the posters are smart enough to realize that anything on this board will have little to no effect on their son's baseball future.

More often it is one poster sharing good news about some other poster's kid.

Certain people sure seem to be hypersensitive to so-called "self-promotion".
O Boy! Fellas, this topic is getting hotter than a snowball on its way to hell! I was just chunking out there an idear that might have taken a left turn! I was just trying to say what I see as a common problem in our youths baseball. Guess that's about as stupid as putting a screen door on a submarine.

Until next time,
