A great story to tell about an amazing young man.

Addison Williams was salutatorian at Blue Ridge High School with a GPA of 3.7. He also accumulated 27 college hours to transfer into Mountain View College. After only one year at Mountain View College, he received his associate’s degree. At Mountain View College he was awarded the chancellors award and currently has a 3.7 GPA.

In high school he went 10-0 with a 0.74 earned run average as a left handed pitcher. He beat the eventual state champions, Windthorst in the playoffs by throwing 5 innings with only 2 hits and 0 earned runs.

Addison signed with Mountain View College after his senior year. His best two games at MVC were against Cisco Junior College and Richland Junior College. Against Richland he pitched 7 innings, 4 hits, 7 strikeouts, 0 walks, and 0 earned runs. Against Cisco he pitched 7 innings, 2 hits, 2 strikeouts, 0 walks, and 1 earned run. He eventually earned his spot as one of our conference starters. By the end of the year, he accumulated 58 innings pitched, the second highest on the team.

One of the most impressive parts of his story has not even been said yet……. He is not 6’4, 200lbs throwing 90mph; he is 5’7, 145lbs throwing 78-82mph. The combination of his work ethic and mental toughness were the reasons he was successful. He earned his success. It was never given to him.

I am very lucky to have had the honor to coach him and I know he will have success in all aspects of his life in the future. I just wanted to share his story with you because these types of young men do not come along that often.
