I was so excited to leave select ball and all the drama. Looks like it is not much different in high school. We play GT tonight. I am sure it is going to be a good game.
As long as parents get to attend the games, there will be drama.
Surely it changes in college!
what are the matchups and times for richardson tourney?
I know for a fact no player north of LBJ ever talked any smack
Unwritten rule that it's ok for the players to talk smack, but when the parents get involved "that's ugly"
That is what I am beginning to find out. Some statements by parents are entertaining, some are being naive and some are uncalled for. Some just take it way too personal. It stirs them into a frenzy then they become what they got mad at. Go figure.

Just the opposite here. HS ball has the drama, select is just good old-fashioned baseball.

I would have to agree with Westlake Dad
High school has been pretty laid back compared to
select ball. SOME parents (and it was the same ones everytime we would play that team) were unbelievable. I have found that High school parents to be pretty calm.
A small portion of parents are just plain idiots. But isn't that kinda how it is in the real world? Why would we think with two teams of 20 players playing (80 parents) there wouldn't be a couple of jerks on each side. Unfortunate yes, surprising, NO!

If ya'll think baseball parents are bad, take in a high school softball game. You will see some stuff that makes high school baseball parents look sedated.
Just pointing out to RH an example of sour grapes, B***h!

You're kidding, right knowitall? Did your boys come running home saying they were called names by Georgetown? Give us a break with this type of comment. How 'bout contributing something positive? <-- just a suggestion.
Give me HS ball any day of the week. With HS ball the is a sense of pride on the field and in the stands. The parents and the players are representing their community. Seem to me parents are less likely to be set off at a HS game since it reflects on more than just themselves.
Depends on the town & the team.
I have heard parents here at HS games yelling out snide comments about players on their son's team! Yep, criticizing players on their own HS's team.
Have also seen parents making sarcastic comments in the stands about other parents and players on the team. Made just loud enough to see that the target hears them.
Texan Son's select teams have had, for the most part, laid back parents who just enjoy watching the game. Great plays get applauded regardless of which team made them. Every player on the team is encouraged.
Guess we have been on the good end of select and the bad end of HS ball.
