TravelBallSelect.com - TBS 14U National Rankings UPDATE!
Tuesday, 24 May 2011 11:45
1. (1) Lamorinda Baseball (CA) - A very talented squad from the northern California region.
Lamorinda has still been playing well in upper divisions and playing well. The team returned
POY Joe DeMers and will be the favorite at the Elite. Currently 51-6 on the season in USSSA
events.
2. (2) Maryland Baseball Academy (MD) – MBA played well at the North Carolina Super NIT
coming in second while missing key components. Have picked up some big wins as of lately
most notably against the East Cobb Astros. Recently won the Northeast Super NIT dropping
the Tri State Arsenal in the finals.
3. (6) Meteors Baseball (FL) – Meteors have bounced back and got some big wins as of lately
that has put them back in the top five. Most notable win came against the Astros at the
Tallahassee Super NIT. Currently 45-11 in USSSA events. "Watch the Metoers live this
weekend in the Florida USSSA State Championship on TBS SelectCast."
4. (3) East Cobb Astros (GA) – Astros played very well at the North Carolina Super NIT
before falling to the second place team Maryland Baseball Academy. Are currently 40-5 on the
season.
5. (5) Roadrunners Blue (GA) - Picked up TBS All American Tarez Miller while returning Seth
Beer, Chris Cullen, and Alec Wilson. Are still playing good ball playing and will make a run for a
national title.
6. (5) TABU (CA) - Won last year’s Elite 32 after picking up Joe Demers. Will not return some
key players from that championship victory but look for them to make another run for a title
come late this summer. Return TBS All Americans Devin Lehman and Cal Stevenson.
7. (9) Motor City Hit Dogs (MI) - Team has merged with last year’s Michigan Mudhens squad
and has picked up some big name players that look to add pitching and hitting depth. Return
TBS All Americans Trey Fulton, Kyle Randick, Alex Malzone, and Pete Zeimis. Will be tested in
first Super NIT this weekend.
8. (11) Tri State Arsenal (NJ) - Tri State finished 21-4 last year in USSSA events. Looked
strong at the North Carolina Super NIT going 4-2 to take the championship and earn the berth
to the Elite. Came in 2nd at the Northeast Super NIT falling to the Maryland Baseball Academy.
9. (12) Houston Lightning (TX) - Have been without some key players as of lately but are still
putting together a great early season. This team will compete for a national title this summer.
Especially when they pick up some of their horses.
10. (10) Louisiana Tigers (LA) - Made a great run in last year’s Elite 32 National
Championship. Coach McClure will have these boys ready to play come summer. Finished 4th
at the Twin City Shootout Super NIT and 9th at the MidSouth Super NIT.
Would anyone care to have a discussion of the top teams from MD (meaning the players are from MD) who are playing this summer? To me, that means teams playing the Baltimore Metro, MABA, Legion, Babe Ruth leagues. Sorry if I missed some affiliations and leagues. Not a big fan of referring to "hired guns" who play in tournaments only as teams. They are what they are.

With the exception of the team manager/DAD that really tries to influence the coach and the recuiting process.

This is a follow-up to a posting from a few years ago.Maryland Baseball Academy(MBA) was one of the best travel teams to come out of Maryland .This team was coached by Dig In Baseball founder Will Frazier .All of the team members had and continue to have steller HS careers. The team was made up of players who would go on to be State, County and Metro players of the year. Many were selected to All State, All Metro,All County and All Region teams .Several were fortunate enough to garner National team honors from different publications and organizations.

Members of the Maryland Baseball Academy U14 National Team are well represented on NCAA Baseball teams. Most have started their careers this year with a few starting  next year . The following are some of the  schools with MBA alums;
