Final:

Menchville 6
West Springfield 5

Mike Kent started for WS, allowed all 6 runs in 6 IP. Bobby Wahl pitched a scoreless 7th.

Jahrel Cotten in relief - 4.2 IP, 1 H, 1 unearned run, 0 BB, 12Ks(!)... WOW (and game-tying RBI single). I think Jeff Gray was 3-4, with 2 doubles & 2 RBI. He drove in the eventual game-winning run with a 2-run single in the 6th, breaking a 4-4 tie. Davern Lake hit a HR in the top of the 1st.

Bryn Renner for WS was 4-4, 2B, HR, 3 RBI. Someone else for WS had a HR as well (Nelson?).

... Menchville moves on to State Finals Sunday vs winner of Cox-Hanover, being played at 7:30pm. To listen to the game live, go to www.gamedaymagazine.com

Cotten is impressive. Able to move the ball all over the plate commanding different speeds depending on the count - full control. WS watched 3rd Ks up and down the line-up.

WS first baseman was pulled off the bag several times from bad throws. One bad call at 2nd for WS, but the score reflects a hard fought battle for Menchville. And it was tight until the last out - last run came in for WS in 7th with 2 outs.
