Mid-week/Weekend Pitchers Question

I don't have a lot of familiarity with college ball, as my son is still in HS. I gather from my reading of some D1 baseball posts that weekend pitchers are the teams stronger pitchers, with the pitchers farther down the rotation pitching mid-week. I am wondering how this compares to DIII schedules, i.e., is it the same? Or does it depend more on who your opponents are? Thanks

It is similar in D3. However, some D3 coaches will use their weekend pitchers as closers sometimes in mid-week games in place of a bullpen session.
