How bad is Kershaw? You think at some point he would be able to execute in the playoffs and then....boom light show! I don't think I have seen anything like it.
So, throughout the playoffs I've been pulling for the Cardinals for two reasons.....Tommy Edman & Andrew Knizner. Tommy's mom used to post on HSBBWeb when her son was going through the recruiting process, college and the draft. I got to know their family pretty well as Tommy was being recruited by some Ivys. I've been following Tommy ever since he got to Stanford. He's an extraordinary player that can play IF or OF at the MLB level. My middle son used to play against Andrew when he was younger and now my son works with Andrew's Dad in the engineering department. Andrew got to play when Yadi went down earlier in the season. Good "kids", great families with a lot of talent to make it to MLB in just a couple years.
Incredible what the Nats did last night. I was exhausted and missed all the excitement until I opened up my MLB app this morning to see the replays and outcome. Red Sox fans are rethinking the loss of Joe Kelly at this very moment.
I would love to see the Rays beat the Astros and the Yankees. I can dream.....
Playoffs have been awesome this year....so far.

Rendon hit a pretty good pitch thrown where it was called. The Soto bomb did look like a mistake though.

I think it's sad that although Kershaw is a potential (likely?) future Hall of Famer, he's going to be remembered as much for his postseason failures as anything else in his career.
Dave Roberts is getting raked over the coals today by second-guessers. Have to agree, his pitching strategy after Buehler was kind of strange.

Kershaw is the best regular season pitcher of his generation, full stop. He's a 100% lock for Cooperstown. And yes, Roberts hung him out to dry yesterday. Absolutely no reason to keep him in there at all, much less for both batters.

Truthfully, with the bullpen Roberts had there was no reason to bring in Kershaw in the first place. On paper they had the better bullpen. Roberts thinking, while understandable, was as mentioned, strange.
A point brought up in another thread, what happened to the Dodger offense after the 2nd inning? Can't blame it all on Kershaw and Roberts. The Dodger offense went into hibernation while the Nationals offense woke up in the later innings.
We'll see if the Rays can pull off a miracle against the Astro's and Cole tonight.
Last night's game was one of the best NLDS games I've seen a while. And another reason I love baseball. As Yogi said many years ago, "It ain't over 'til it's over."
Houston is a great team. And Cole is having a run for the ages The ALCS should be interesting.
As a Rays fan, I'll close with this fun fact: The combined salaries of Verlander, Cole and Greinke is is more than the entire Rays payroll. (Although I think it's great that any team's ownership is willing to spend to get players. I wish the Rays could/would do it.)
I'm a life long Red Sox fan but really admire the way that the Astros and the Rays run their organizations. If the Rays had our payroll they'd be unstoppable. The Astros / Yankees series should be a great one.

I've been pleasantly surprised as to how the Nat's have been playing. Though I have to admit, I'm waiting for the Nat's bullpen to implode. I hope it doesn't. I'm usually holding my breath when Scherzer, Strasburg, Sanchez and Corbin leave the mound.
Only managed to catch the last two innings of today's game. Spent the day with my oldest daughter and my three grandchildren at our local fall festival. Some things are more important than baseball.

Closet Nats fan here. They're the National league team I follow the most. The starters are doing more than their job (no hits, deep into game) which is making things easy for Doolittle, Hudson, and others. Even they can't screw that up, plus the offense is exploding at exactly the right times that keep the starters in with a low pitch count. It is like the stars have finally aligned for the Nats. Hopefully they can keep it going.
Evil empire making trouble for the stros. Can't wait for tonight's game.

ALCS is living up to the hype. I want the yanks to end this quickly but the baseball fan in me would enjoy a 7 game war. I won't be sleeping much this week.
Dang that was a late game on the east clast. A great series start so far. Didnt like gary sanchez complaining about the strike 3 looking call after he sold the foul tip on the pitch before. What was blue gonna do???? Of course he had to make a make-up call! Sanchez shoulda been hacking no matter what.

It was a bit annoying how often the cameras were panning the stands for Yankee fans.
Strasburg unbelievable tonight - 12 K's and no walks through 7 innings. Nat's blew it open in the 3rd scoring 4 runs. Howie Kendrick is a man on a mission with 3 hits (2 dbl's) tonight. Cardinal's struggling at the plate - only 2 runs in 27 innings. Nat's win 8-1.
