Unless you are a high profile prospect; and, unless you have been approached by some scouts and the Scouting Bureau, I would guess you would never know if they are going to draft you.

I would say, however, that if you are going or are being considered in the top 10 rounds, you would have heard something by now.

If you get drafted in the bottom 25 rounds, it is a small feather in your cap and you get a ticket to the low minors; $50.00 spending money; a contract for $850.00 per month; and, some McDonald's certificates...say $7.00 worth.
I would say that if the scouting bureau has come to your home and given you an eye test, asked for your medical records, sent you a psych test, asked for pictures, sent someone to film you while playing you would know that you are being considered as a high round pick.
Of course your name may still be entered and you may be chosen and choose to play, take advantage of the scholarship program without any of this ever taking place before the draft.

6.75...I am not at all certain about anything that involves the draft except that they likely have scouted the person or that the MLScouting Bureau has seen him play.

I do know, however, that the Mets had never talked with my son or had given him any indication that they were even interested in him when he was finally drafted in the 8th round out of Mississippi State University in 1993.

When I was drafted in the Dark Ages, I got a call from the scout who had seen me play. His name was Al Unser and he scouted for the Braves. On a Tuesday/Wednesday draft, he signed me on Saturday and I was on a plane to Florida the following week. Great memories. But...As I look back on it now, I would likely have been better served by getting a real job 3 years sooner! Oh...those dreams!

Now, you can listen to the draft on the internet site of major league baseball...I think.

Very little money, usually, in the last 30 rounds...

Holy Cow,
Beenthere, you were drafted?
Wow! You really DO learn something new every day on HSbbweb!

Good advice.
And 6.75.......in the words of the great BBscout "the best thing to do is not try to figure it out at all" (sorry bbscout, I may be paraphrasing Wink )

I look forward to hearing about all the HSbbweb "boys" who are drafted. Round 1- Round ???. No matter what the round, it's definitely something to be proud of-Lord knows many players would love to have been round 30 vs round "nothing"
Beenthere,
Interesting comment about your perspective on being drafted!
Tell me, you think that being able to tell your children, grand children that you played pro ball makes a difference in how they feel about you? I hear lately (and it has been posted here), "how can one pass up the opportunity not to be able to tell your kids, grandkids that you played pro ball". I don't think that makes you any more or less of a person. I don't think that is a reason to go pro, do you get what I am talking about?
