Congratulations, the Breakthrough Series is something PG supports in a big way and actually partners with MLB to create a great and valuable experience.  As the letter you received has stated.  Most (not all) of the players invited are ranked PG players that fit the goals of the Breakthrough Series.  I think your son will enjoy it.

You have been selected as one of  60 players to attend a 2017 BreakThrough Series hosted by MLB/MLBPA and USA Baseball this summer in , IL! This program is designed to provide elite caliber Players the opportunity to receive advanced level instruction, mentorship and insight from former ML Players and Coaches. Consistent with all of our summer show case events and camps , the BreakThrough Series is completely cost-free to the participant and an excellent opportunity to show case your talent in front of college coaches, MLB scouts, and personnel.

Your participation in the BreakThrough Series will also qualify you for an opportunity to be selected on the MLB team which will participate in fall showcase tournaments in Jupiter and Ft. Meyers, Florida this fall hosted by Perfect Game.

Thanks all , This is a very great opportunity for him and he's very excited to be part of it . It's been a very busy summer for him , the D1 schools are filling the inbox and leaving their  cell numbers and contacting his. coaches . Very humble
