MN-Mom - a tech support question

Oh no, only 33 minutes into my tenure, and you've already stumped me! I just tried a search and experienced the same problem you described when I tried a general search for a word, but I am still able to successfully submit some other searches such as searching by member name. If you have just noticed this problem tonight, I suppose it's possible that it's only temporary due to overnight maintenance by the forum hosting service. Would you please let me know if you still have the same problem tomorrow? Thanks!

The website isn't recognizing the search parameters and hasn’t for about 3-4 days. I first noticed it when my home page failed to open. Searches seem to be limited to “today’s active topics” or “new since your last visit”. I cannot access any keyword searches or archived posts. Hmmm, did Bob mention a small notebook that had all the problems listed and the “fixes” for those problems?

I, too, have had trouble with a few pages from Articles....keep getting "page not available" error...

But NO PRESSURE HERE!! I know you're busy getting started and figuring everything out. I'm sure it's just a host glitch.

Thanks for the input. I have submitted a Trouble Ticket, so hopefully this will be corrected soon, and I'll let you know when it is.

This may be a short term fix ... my old link to get current topics was not working either. BUT the link under the FIND tab for "New Since Your Last Visit" does work. So, I click on this link and then save the resulting URL address as a new favorite "current topics" link. This seems to be working for me as an entry search to the message board.

I believe the Search (Find) function is working correctly now. Please let me know if anyone is still having problems with it.

I need to update mine someday too! You just need to use the GO tab at the top of the page and select MySpace/Profile. Click on Edit and replace your Username. Just remember to tell us your new name!

Are you trying to include a photo that is already uploaded to a server somewhere, or are you trying to upload it by posting?

MN-Mom, I'm try to upload a picture in to a post. The picture is on my computer's hard drive.

I'm not sure if you are trying to upload the picture in a normal thread, but the only way to upload a picture from your hard drive is to create a Photo Album. (Click New > Photo Album above.) There is a maximum size per Photo Album of 1 MB.

If you want to insert a photo in a general post, you can use a free image hosting service to upload it. I'll look up the thread where we were discussing how to do this, and post a link.

Congratulations, TurnTwoNet. You figured it out.

I suspect the picture that appears in your post is smaller than you expected. That's OK, it took me a while to get it right.

It looks from the details of your photo, that you used the properties of the thumbnail. Maybe you didn't notice that you can link to a larger size.

Like you, I use Webshots and have a suggestion. Go back to your thumbnail and click on it. It should open it up to a decent size image on a page similar to this:



Notice the link on the right side of the page that says, link to it. That will open up a page similar to this:



Select the size of the photo you want to post 1. You can preview it to see how it will turn out. Then copy all the text (including the unseen characters (I use CTRL+A then CTRL+C keystrokes)) in the direct link to image field 2. You already know where to paste it in the HSBBW reply window.

The result should look like this:

Thanks for the info...I actually used a fairly small sized photo since I was just trying to be sure it worked...But, it definitely was smaller than anticipated - I'll be sure to follow your recommendations next time 'round...
