Ryan had his first start at OU on Sat ... 6 shut out innings while onlygiving up 2 hits.

Altho Ryan had a "no decision" but we all know who the winning pitcher of that game was, right?

Way to go, Ryan ... applaude

Thanks so much, everyone!! Yes, you could say that I was (and still am) smiling about as big as Texas still today. Even though I know he has good ability, I still am amazed that this 18 year-old kid could pull off this kind of performance in his first college start. He had 10 2/3 innings in relief coming into the game and had thrown 2 scoreless innings on Tuesday before this Saturday game so I wasn't sure how effective he would be...his coaches had him on a pitch count and were not going to let him throw more than he could handle, thank goodness. The best thing about this outing is that it has earned him (at least for the time being)a spot in the weekend starting rotation. His next start will be this weekend against Baylor. This is a very exciting start for him but I have already cautioned him to not be a "one game wonder." Wink

Thanks especially to you, Mary Ann, for starting this post. I appreciate you and everyone who posted here. Good luck to all of our guys this season! Smile

Ann
