Now for the breakdown:
Equipment: they got the bats right (1991) the silver and green Eastons. The batting helmets were off a little and so were the gloves. And if Iowa used a "safety base" in the 90's I'd be darn surprised but maybe they did.
Acting: I thought Powers Boothe was good as the old coach (VanSyoc I guess it is... he now works for Perfect Game according to the credits). He did a great job of portraying the getting on in years shop teacher/baseball legend of his town.
Sean Astin (Rudy) was the young coach and little boring frankly... but so be it. The players did a fine job. Neither Boothe or Astin can hit a fungo but I guess that's just supposed to make all of us feel better, right coaches!!
Directing: Here is where the movie gets a big strikeout. I can't stand it when the guy hits the ball to the shortstop and then its the rightfielder making the catch!! The movie had at least 20 cuts like this that were flat wrong!! I also think the radio announcer said "deep fly to left" and the ball was in right... time after time these "bad cuts" came into play...
Overall: It's a stand up double... and there is no bad language or suggestive stuff so load up the kids of all ages.
