Recruiting and scouting is done by grad years. Being young for your class can be beneficial, but no matter what age, a senior is a senior. That is when a player becomes draft eligible. That is when his next year is in college.
Is he a 2014 14u or a 2015 14u?
My 2017 son is technically a 15u, but he moved up to 16u this year to play with his class. He could have moved last year, but he had a great coach and a great team. I feel if he had stayed at 15u this year, collages would not have noticed him. If you plan to play past high school, you need to p,at with you class by 10th. grade (my opinion)

I agree there. 9th grade preferred, 10th grade at the latest. The only way you stay "down" in 9th grade is if you have superior coaching. My kid had this issue and each year the question was do we make the jump? He made the jump in 9th grade. It just made the most sense. In our area, HS kids can't play "travel" in the spring so staying at 14u means you miss most of the season.
