I live ~12 miles from MSI (one county over).  My son is on a local travel team that competes routinely against MSI and we know MSI players from my kids' school district … opinion is that their teams get increasingly more competitive once they reach 60/90 13u and beyond.  I am seriously thinking about placing my son (2024 grad yr) into their Player Development Program, regardless of what team he plays for this summer.  Agree with CHAZBALL, their Director of Baseball (Ken S.) has much respect both locally and regionally.

Ken S. made it legitimate. He has the right approach and perspective on the whole situation. If my kids were younger that's where they would be playing because of what he has brought to the organization. Their strength and conditioning program led by Rob Rabena is great also. Rob learned at Cressey via internship and is a great resource. My older boy trained with Rob for awhile and got a lot out of it and enjoyed working with Rob. Recently they have hired good people to implement actual baseball performance improvement programs.

By contrast, my younger son played one season under the previous leadership there and it was total amateur hour and actually unethical/unsportsmanlike coaching. Fortunately, that seems to have been addressed and corrected. Although I don't view travel ball in general as a necessity to playing in college, Ken and Co. have the right perspective in terms of putting people first and developing players with a focus on personal ownership/accountability instead of trying to get as much $$$ as possible out of people with constant marketing pressure and lesson packages. I'd recommend giving them a shot.

I have to admit, from our recent travel baseball experience- MSI is the place to play. Facilities are top notch. They have their own turf fields to practice on and hold quality tournaments and showcases.

The Coaches and instructors are knowledgeable, friendly and will help any way they can. Many are former MLB players and College Coaches .

Rob Rabena runs probably the best strength and conditioning program this side of the Mississippi . Why would dozens of MLB/ Milb players work out with him in offseason . He and staff will set up a workout routine tailored to each individual.

The PDP program is terrific. Rapsodo is a huge tool for training. I can't find anything negative about the organization except the rush hour traffic getting to the facility. All in all,  you get what you pay for, and if son is serious about Baseball and is willing to work hard and follow his dream - Maplezone Sports Institute is the place to go. Without MSI my son would not be Playing D1 baseball in the SEC. I'd be happy to answer any questions about our MSI  experience.

Apologies for the winded rant. Best of Luck!
