For a 2022 who is wanting to tryout for multiple teams, what's the best way to handle time conflicts of the tryouts?

He's looking at three teams - all with tryouts on the same day/time. One of those is already a makeup date.  There are many more teams in our area that are holding tryouts - but these three organizations have respectable reputations as well as connections with college coaches.

Is there a real downside of going to the make-up date rather than the initial tryout? And is it ever appropriate to submit a short video (2 minutes tops) to travel ball organizations? Or is that only used when submitting to college coaches?

Personally I would not send a video to a travel coach in lieu of tryout.

The main reason to attend the tryout is for  YOU and your son to see the team and coaches. See how they interact, see how the coach, see the level of the other kids in comparison to your son. To me, it’s just as much about the coaches trying out for us, as it was the other way around. Don’t get caught up in a name brand, find the right team and coach for your son.

I think that most teams would be willing to hold an individual workout for a player unable to make the tryouts.  Saw it many times on my son's teams over the years.

If the team is interested in the player. The best travel team destination is usually among the list of teams who pursued the player not where the player pursued the team. Players the team knows are already on the inside track. Players the team is not aware of have to beat the odds.
