Hello! Can someone explain to me the difference in the National Underclass Main Event Showcase that is in December at Fort Myers and any other PG showcase. Thanks!
Nothing special about it. Just another available showcase. My 2022 received an "invitation" to it, as well as 2019 PG Fall Top Prospect National Showcase 10/19-10-20. Just another available event. I'm pretty sure even if you didn't receive an invite they'll let you sign up.
I would consider any showcase labeled "National" as a national event with national level PG scouts and cross-checkers. The "regional" showcases don't usually have national scout coverage. But, yes, not a whole lot of difference except if you do well at a national event you will find it holds a bit more weight with the PG scouts.
As far as "Top Prospect" events: these are a bit more selective. The qualifier is usually because you received a Top Prospect at a previous event but sometimes players with no other PG showcase under their belts are invited. That is likely because they are ranked fairly high or have shown well at PG tourneys. I think the PG scouts just want some metrics on them. Consider it validation for the ranking they gave you. Of course if you attend and your metrics don't compare well to others with a similar ranking you may find your ranking drop!
I think the only real exclusive invites for PG now are Underclass National and National and Underclass All American and the All American. I agree the Top Prospect ones are slightly more exclusive, but not much.
It's more marketing lingo. Kind of like "Smooth Peanut Butter" at $3.99 vs ULTRA Smooth Peanut Butter @ $4.99...so what's the difference? You paid a dollar more for something that may or may not have been whipped a minute longer??? Just the verbiage on the label changed???
Neither are crunchy...
Thanks for the help guys! Just trying to figure this stuff out! thanks!
