I would like to get your opinions on this situation. If an '04 has already signed a NLI with a 4 year DI University, would it be prudent for him to also actively seek a Junior College with which to sign? As you know, Junior Colleges offer opportunities for the draft that NCAA schools do not. He can then weigh his options after the June draft and decide which school situation would be best for him. What are your thoughts on this matter?

I remember seeing this discussion about 6 months ago. To some, there is a question about ethics, but I understand it is done all the time.
The only thing I can say is that the college baseball community is very small, everyone seems to know everyone else's business, some coaches may not like it. Also, I have been told it is not a good thing to discuss with scouts.
That is my opinion.
This is exactly why many players who currently sign in the early period with D-1 schools should wait. All these questions should be answered before signing. Then the ethical dilemma would not evolve. Players and parents need to realize that scholarships from junior colleges may be and often are much better deals than what they get from a D-1 early offer. And it certainly gives the player more options without the ethical conflict.
I certainly would not be shopping for a JUCO now for the reasons stated by others. Wait for the draft and if things go well the team that drafts him may well suggest draft and follow. At that point decide and if a Juco is for you go for it.Would not let a D1 school where he may well end up spending 3 or 4 years know you were hedging your bets before you even arrived.
