Let's hear it for our local girls who played in Oklahoma!!!! With a special woo hoo to Sandy Vojik from DePaul who hit a home run against Arizona.

I heard on the telecast that 21 girls from Illinois were on the teams which played in the Womens College World Series--topped only by girls from California and either Arizona or Texas. Not bad for a cold weather state!!!!

Congratulations to ALL of the athletes from Illinois who participated in the College World Series--any level--D1, D2, or D3--either womens or mens. You make Illinois proud!!!!

As an example of "anything can happen" in baseball...

Consider the freshman at Michigan, hitting .188 on the season and with an ERA of 27.00 as a part-time pitcher, hitting a pinch hit home run off of David Price, likely the #1 overall pick in Thursday's Major League Baseball free-agent draft, knocking off Vanderbilt, also ranked #1 in the nation, from the NCAA Baseball tournament.
