I just texted the guy yesterday to get together and talk about next year. I said I'd buy the wings and beer. NOTHING BACK, except he will not be able to attend JV games and needs me to chaperone the bus trips.
When we applied for the position, we were asked if we were completely available because of leaving early and returning late for away games.
IMHO, Make a very formal and professional letter of resignation. A letter of resignation is not the place to cite reasons for leaving. The appropriate place for that is in the exit interview. In that interview keep it professional by keeping it brief. You feel the conditions aren't conducive to success for the players. Practices and methods aren't in line with what you've seen work at a higher level of baseball. Period. That's it in a nutshell anyways and adding anything (especially talking about your own abilities, others wanting you as the coach, etc.) will only make it look as though you are leaving because you didn't get chosen as the head coach. All this would happen with the AD anyways and since he's not listening, anything more than a simple and brief explanation would be wasted breath. If you are truly a better coach, he will understand what went down.
