When the bus pulled out of the parking lot taking my son to his 5th Spring training trip to Florida it seemed just like all the others....

Yet this time his name was on the roster as a coach and not as a player....

Ive been keeping up with him through text and phone calls and his experience is painting another page in the baseball life....

After 4 years of NCAA baseball as a player and 2 shoulder surgeries, his focus in now on to coaching...His low level grad assistant postion has him doing things he always took for granted....

He called me on an off morning early while he and the other grad assistant were loading up the radar gun and charts and told me they were off to scout some teams that were playing early morning games....

Last night they had spent a couple hours making recruiting calls to HS prospects...

Today they would be hand writing post cards to send to the recruits...

Both grad assistants pitch in to help the trainer get the team ready to play.......

He still has that pull to play, yet that page has turned and he is throwing himself into this new opportunity........

My wife and I followed the team to Florida every year but opted not to this year....My wifes mantra is she wont watch me umpire and cant imagine watching my son coach after all these years as a a player....I am regretting my decision to not go....

Wont miss another step...trust me....
