Im a HS sophmore in NC hoping to play Varsity this year. I believe i have a good chance to play college ball. I believe that is the first step into getting into it. I want to get into some showcase tournaments but i want to go into one but i never been in one.

Am i allowed to pitch and catch and play infield. I play all 3 and I'm around the same in each.

If I cant is there one position that will get me looked at more?
I practice like I play, ALL OUT ALL THE TIME

Your sophomore season is your "get on the radar" season. Perhaps a PG East showcase would be good.. I'm sure there are others but I'm a West Coast guy.
Concentrate your offseason efforts on getting better. Showcasing next year in your (sophomore season) is great but don't take your eye off the prize.. your mindset should be to make yourself better than anyone in your area this offseason.

There is a lot of great advise here on HSBBW for offseason workouts. Like my moniker says, "Believe -- Plan -- Do". Make it happen this offseason. Then, next year, you will dominate and in the Summer you can do a couple of good showcases. Send some emails to some college coaches, too, letting them know about your baseball skills and be sure to send a copy of your Summer schedule. Maybe even try a college camp or two of your favorite schools this Winter. That's what my son did and he is going to sign a letter of intent with them soon.. it paid off!

Then, in your Junior year you can do a few more showcases, a followup camp or two, send some more emails to update coaches, and generally get your name out there!

But get better! What is your plan this offseason? Who is your competition? Do you know what it takes to get to the next level? Do you know the five tools of baseball? Which are your strengths and weaknesses? What are you doing NOW to address the weaknesses? What is your training plan this offseason? Are you getting trained by a qualified instructor?

THE OFFSEASON IS WHEN PLAYERS ARE MADE. DON'T FORGET THIS.

Good luck kid, and update us on your progress!
There are some terrific camps at many of the colleges in your area. I am sure some of the more knowledgeable posters can point you in the right direction for a good camp. You can start by checking out the websites for the local colleges.

As was stated...the offseason is a very critical time. Keep working hard and it will pay off!

Good luck!

If you have the range and the arm, if you are going to play MIF, they look at shortstops more than 2B's, as they can always move a shortstop to another position, but they don't move 2b's to shortstop.

If you are on the mound, you should not do much at shortstop, let your arm rest!

Good Luck!
For the young players like CAVPRIDE may I offer this advice---all too often I see the statements
" I could not make it this weekend" or "It was too far away".

Guys if you want it badly enough you will find a way to be in attendance at the events you need to be at. Sacrifices have to be made or come your senior year you will be back here asking "What do I do now?"

YOU HAVE TO WANT IT TO MAKE IT WORK!!!!!
