I just joined the board and didn't know where to get started, until I saw the Ladies only area.

I'm not a mother to a player like many of you seem to be, but a girl that's been surrounded by it thanks to older brothers and a father who can't get enough of it. Thanks to their assistance, I have also grown to love everything about the sport and it has radiated into my career field.

Currently I'm a junior in college, studying Broadcast communication, in hopes of becoming either a sports commentator or a sports reporter, wherever the doors open for me.

From the looks of things this is a great place for people to share their baseball thoughts and other randomness, hopefully it will be an outstanding experience to chat with all of you. I look forward to it.

Jess ...

Welcome aboard. Being the sister of baseball players, you obviously understand the life of a ball player pretty well ... you would no doubtedly make a great girlfriend for some deserving ball player. It is a tough relationship to cultivate but so necessary for the distaff side to understand what it takes to "play ball" ...

Welcome again. And please feel free to share and share and share some more. We love new stories.
Actually I passed on a four-year scholarship to Liberty. I attended Dr. Falwell's high school...the man sure has made a name for himself in the area. It was too much for me to continue, that and I had to get out of the area. I attend Mary Baldwin College, which is about a hour and a half north of Lynchburg.

One of my brother's is a junior in high school playing varsity ball. The oldest played D3 ball in college, but now has found a job away from the sport and is starting a family. He still loves the game though.

Glad to see so many people posting so quickly. I've been on a few other boards and people never talk there, that or they're just not friendly. Thank you so much for the great welcome. clap
It's a wonderful field to pursue if like me, you enjoy sports and running your mouth. My advisor told me in a meeting just this past week that I was born to do it. All I could do after he said that was shake my head. With my family, he doesn't know how true that statement is.

But it is a very rewarding field to pursue. Currently I'm attempting to balance my time between the school paper, the school sports paper, as well as an internship and my own personal sports activities and make it to my kid brother's games. Be sure your son knows how to prioritize or else he will be worn down by the load.
Welcome Jess! My oldest son graduated from high school in '02. He played from the time he was 4 years old until he "retired" after graduation. My youngest is an 8th grade catcher on his jr. high team. He moves up to varsity next year.
This board is a wonderful place to get advice and talk about our players' successes and disappointments. Moms and sisters of baseball players are special people. clap
