NJ NON-Wood Bat Ban Not Passed Yet

Starting this July (180 day grace period) there will be no more, non-wood bats in youth baseball in the State of NJ. (You can use non-wood bats in tournaments where teams from other states participate)

I love the idea. I prefer wood bat baseball, but would like to have seen the organizations make this same choice....

I am not against legislating safety... If there were no safety legislations coal miners would still be using canaries...

Hey.. anyone want to buy some aluminum bats?

I HAVE BEEN MISSINFORMED.

The bill has not passed yet. The vote was on an amendment to the bill. I believe the bill will pass soon.....

I have a nephew who is a sophomore in NJ. If it saves one kid...

How long until other states follow suit?

I was at a wood bat colligate game this summer and an intern asked me (looked offical sitting in the golf cart... just no one was sitting there and it provided shade) to give a packet to the coach. The packet was from UNC Chapel Hill about wood bats vs metal, and asked the coach to report any injuries from wood during the summer.

I know from that team with wood, we had no injuries to report.

That is awesome!! Congratulations to the state of New Jersey for stepping up and doing the right thing. Now if we can get some more states to do the same thing.

Lets hope that this is the very beginning.

Maybe some day - this gross perversion of the game will be eliminated completely. IMO.

It's amazing... this same report on a local nj youth baseball board has all these people moaning and complaining about government intrusion....

some of the high school age leagues in our area (vancouver, BC) went to wood bats... The Premier League 2 years ago, Junior Premier will this year go to wood, and Midget AAA is also going that route this year.
