Usually in the time leading up to the baseball season I am getting really excited and can barely wait for the season to start. This year things are different. I just don't really feel like playing right now. Maybe its just a temporary thing but i dont know. It started last year on my HS team. I just wasn't having any fun. I sat the bench a lot and got to pitch a grand total of 1.2 innings. I still love pitching, but now that I am trying out for varsity I don't think I will get a chance to. I really dislike playing the field and sort of like hitting. Last summer I played on a rec team and had a great time (I pitched every other game).
I guess my point it that if I'm not pitching then i don't like playing baseball, and now if I am on Varsity I will probablly not ever pitch.

What do you all think I should do. I've even been thinking about just doing track this year, but this would probablly wreck any future in baseball I may have had.

Awwww Hoovedawg,...I admire your honesty.
Players go through slumps.
Remember that.
Don't miss an opportunity and then regret it. ( my son took his first year off from HS basketball this year to focus on preparation for baseball, but it was very difficult for him to stand in the stands and just watch. He missed it. )

Make sure to follow your heart.
Just be 100% honest with yourself and know what you stepping stones you have to cross to get to your dream.
No one enjoys sitting on the bench, but some prefer it over sitting in the stands. Only you know what your true desires are.
Its not always an easy road to get to your dreams. Takes alot of hard work and endurance.
Means getting through the hard times, and still persevering.
Be honest with yourself.
If you want it, you can achieve it.
I wish you contentment and success.

Again,...make sure you are doing what you truely want to do.
You have all of the answers inside of yourself.
You have the ability to make your dreams happen!!!
Hoove good luck making your choice.. Make it, and then stick with it come what may... This is what makes strong people. If you just want to wait and play rec ball in the summer great. If you don't want to miss out on HS ball, that's great too, but whatever you do, throw yourself at it; that sets up good habits for a healthy life.... best wishes to you man.
(I had a senior come out tonite for the first time. Said he'd always wanted to be on "a team" but never had the nerve to go out for a high school sport... I asked him if he'd be happy with whatever role may come his way and he said, yes, he just wanted to be on a team... he'll probably move a lot of L-shapes and feed a lot of balls into the machine, but if he's a positive influence among the guys I'm more than happy to have him (our school has a no-cut policy)... good luck man
