Hey guys whats going on? Im a senior in high school this year and will be attending Sauk Valley C.C. in the fall of next year and will be playing ball. Im sort of thinking about not playing with my high school this year because of some personal things. For one, my mother recently lost her job and with college come up, we dont really have the money to pay for everything, even though it is a junior college in Sauk. Second, I had pretty bad arm problems last year which kept me from pitching the entire year, but was still on the team. These arm problems, tendinitus to be exact have carried over into this year and I really want my arm to be as strong as possible for next year and collegiate ball and what not. I feel it is my responsibility to help pay for college but I can't do that if I am playing ball in the spring and even now as we are conditioning (which I could do a better job on my own in that category). I just wanted to get different opinions on what I can do.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks guys!

Are you specifically going to a JUCO to play baseball? If so, your College coach is going to want you playing ball both this Spring and in the Summer. If not, how will you be in a position to compete with those who have been training?

Secondly, muscles unused, atrophy!! You need to consider why you have tendinitis (invariably it's your throwing motion) and begin training to strenghthen your arm and improve your mechanics.

Good luck Guy! sorry about the family situation...
None of us are smart enough to know why you might have tendenitis. I suggest going to a doctor and let them examine you and go by their opinion.

As far as needing to earn money, I can imagine that the college coach would be understanding of your plight. Thus, I would call him and see if he is ok with you taking the spring off. If he seems not to like that suggestion, perhaps you can find work that would not conflict with your baseball schedule. Perhaps the high school coach could help you out there so perhaps you should tell him your situation as well.

My best advice is be honest with all involved. If some young man came to me and told me these things and he seemed genuine, then I would try and help him if I were the coach.

Outstanding advice and pretty much mimics what I would say. You can never go wrong by being honest with all parties involved. I highly suggest to follow CD's advice.
