Oakland/Boston Game 6/4

I didn't see it as it wasn't on MLB TV due to the blackout. All I saw was what was a brief clip from ESPN.

Paplebon said he was trying to talk to his catcher. From the video there was a whole bunch more going on... Given that he blew a 4 run lead in the top of the 9th, I suspect he was "ornery".

My wife and I watched much of this game. Papelpon was getting squeezed on the strike zone. The pitch he blew up on was a ball that the ump called a strike - despite him calling the same pitch location a BALL prior to that several times. Pap was confused on just what this guy's zone was.

The pitch was a definitely a ball. (Up and out) If it was called such earlier, that would would have been appropriate.

So then, the ump makes a mistake and calls it a strike and the pitcher gets pi$$ed. Very strange. I'd have expected the batter to be the one upset.

I think it was a case of mounting frustration, i.e. "Oh NOW it's a &#$^#*% strike, but it hasn't been?!"

Looks like another case of things that should have been thought and not said.

I suppose, but I'd be surprised that any major league pitcher would think that was a strike. Take the gift and STFU.

Is he the first ML pitcher that was ever tossed arguing because the pitch was called a strike? A new one on me!

There was a bunch of boil over that was strike zone related. Balls were strikes and strikes were balls. Varitek was bounced earlier. Blue had a bad day....happens.
