I've heard that it's better to see the college when school is in session.

I know of one athlete (in another sport - not baseball) who committed to his school in the summer. He was able to see the campus, but not the student body. When he arrived on campus in the fall, he realized that he was in a distinct minority race-wise and his car and personal property were vandalized several times. He left after the first year.

Another friend's son committed to a school in the summer because of its high academic reputation but never visited the campus itself. He arrived in the fall in his pickup truck. A majority of the student body were liberal activists and his truck was "keyed" several times and spray-painted with phrases such as "you're destroying the environment."

I would imagine that a visit during the school year would have spared both of these athletes a lot of grief.

1. What do you like most about this college?
2. What do you like the least about this college?

If u schedule an official visit with the coach, and they are actively recruiting you, the 1 Day Visit will/may be very similar to an official visit. Coaches will meet with u, review facilities, hopefully meet academic advisor etc... meet players who are on campus for summer sessions or working camps. (I like this versus just doing the standard tour)

If a school is showing interest in a student (just my opinion), I think it is very important to do an unofficial so u can get a feel for the school and the coaches, and they get a feel for u. It may or may not result in speeding up the offer.
