Through last year I checked on a regular basis (Sunday night at the least) to see how former teammates were doing. If there was a big midweek non conference game I checked that night.

This past Sunday night I checked to see how the weekend went. I looked at the box scores and thought, “I never saw any of these guys play.” My son will be 26 this spring. Last years seniors were freshmen I once saw play. I think my curiosity will be diminished to checking every few weeks to see how the program is doing.

It only took two years to lose interest in college softball.

One year, this season removed. I have watched “at” a few games so far. Several guys playing that played last year but several new faces as well. Only 3 guys who are seniors that came back and so far all 3 play. My wife and i made good friends at Clemson so we’ll go up this season and catch a weekend of games and will probably continue to do that. I could see losing interest over time And am definitely more focused on sons Milb career.

I'm still checking son's former school for the same reasons mentioned above, looking to see how old teammates are doing.  If it's convenient to see a game, I will.  Over the past several years, I find that I check on many former teammates from travel ball, prep school, former college teammates that are spread out across all three college divisions as well as the minor leagues.

We've been fortunate over the years that my son's college baseball team has played somewhere close to home in March.   With new players and new coaches it is a different team every year, and I find myself more removed every year.  One thing is very clear in the March games, you can very quickly discern who is a freshmen parent and who is an upper classmen parent.

I'll check on his former team as well as the league in general every weekend.   My oldest son graduated college in 2014, so there is nobody on his current he played with, however one of the coaches was a teammate.  There are also about a dozen college players that I follow, and I regularly check in to see how they did.

Still check on son's teammates in MiLB and life but have not gone back to a game.  Still keep up with it somewhat just because a friend is now the HC.  I still keep up with my sons' HS team even though we haven't lived there in 6 years and they are 7 and 9 years removed because their old coach is still the coach.  Having a younger son who is a senior, many of the kids playing now he went to elementary school with.

My son graduated in 2015. So this years senior class are the last players I have seen play. It is not too far away, so I will probably go to a couple of home games. I still follow on line. I check their roster to see who has come back and how many Freshman are brought in every year. I also review their schedule every year to see how strong it is.

However it is not how it used to be.

My regular checking will probably now be limited to my list of players I tagged on milb.com. I’ve tagged former teammates from college, travel, star opponents, hsbaseballweb poster’s players and players of interest from the local college games i now sometimes attend. Given my son is about to be 26 the list gets smaller each year.
