One school, FIVE teams?

Why is it so disgusting? or pathetic?

I can see alot of positives for both the program and the players to having that many teams.

I wondered the same thing... how is it bad to have five teams? We have four, and play an occasional JV game with the guys who don't get varsity starts. I guess we're almost pathetic!

I think that is pretty much the norm in these parts Tex. Except on my son's team, the junior varsity is composed secondary players for the varsity and they suit up for the varsity games.

Why in the world would you that that it is ISGUSTING AND PATHETIC after some of the things that people down south do?

A HUGE waste of money, assuming public school programs are funded by tax payer money. Even if not publicly funded, it could be going to much more important things, like BOOKS, COMPUTERS, TEACHERS SALARIES, AFTER SCHOOL LEARNING PROGRAMS.

Why pathetic?

I guess we have all the BOOKS, COMPUTERS, TEACHER SALARIES and AFTER SCHOOL LEARNING PROGRAMS that we feel we need - hey, wait! Baseball happens to be my son's FAVORITE after school learning program!

It's disgusting and pathetic to keep kids doing things and being involved?

I've lived in Texas for 3 months, I agree the money wasted on HS football here is equally dumb.

We have levels, our kids take pride in the opportunity to play and represent their school. In many cases the JV is they only time they will get to play. How is that pathetic and disgusting?

Strange this turned into a Texas vs Illinois issue, considering I've lived MUCH LONGER in Illinois than Texas, and lived in about 10 different places the past 10 years.

Seriously though - most high school baseball teams get NO MONEY from the school or school board. Any money spent is money raised by coaches, players and parents. If they can raise enough money to fund 5 teams or more then more power to them (and I hope they tell me what they do to raise money because I am going to try it).

What do you say we eliminate baseball and other sports and let those kids hang out on the street corner. Surely those tales of drug pushers and evil people are urban legends.
