Got to be careful what I post here (its a small world) but wanted to share this.

The kid crosses the plate for his first hit as a college player and looks like his puppy got ran over. I know he's thinking, "if I had got more of that ball my first AB it would have been out instead of caught at the warning track", or "I should have hit that FB out my 2nd AB instead of fouling it off", or "can't believe I missed that CB my 3rd AB", or, most likely, "I could have been doing this all season if given the chance". Or maybe all of the above, LOL.

They took him as a two way. They had some injuries and he pitched really well in the fall so they decided for this year PO. Then they decided to tinker with his mechanics and that didn't turn out very well. First year since he stepped on the field the kid has sat the bench most of the year (or at all). But through it all he's kept his head up, been a good teammate, and taken care of grades so, it is what it is. I've always told him, to really appreciate the good you have to experience the bad.

Twitter feed is all I got.

Congrats!

Sounds like my son's freshman year.  Offered as a two-way....ended up PO his freshman year with a couple meaningless DH appearances thrown in.  His last AB of the year (he had 7) he struck out leading off the 9th against a guy that had a perfect game going.  We talked about this the other day as the guy is already in the majors.  Guy had struck out 14 at that point....son fouled off 2 and had a full count.  Swung at one at the eyes.  He said "dad, it's the 9th inning, it's 12 to nothing and I've had 7 AB's....I'm swinging"....lol   Maybe not the best way to approach an at bat, but that's how he grew up and I wouldn't have wanted him to change.   DH'd this year as a junior and is expecting a big year at the plate next year.    Tell your son to keep swinging...if it's anything like my son's 3 years, there will always be a need for a guy with a bat.  He'll get an opportunity...just need to be ready when it comes.  Good luck!!
