A mid-major goes to super-regionals and the players receive this. I have to wonder if this isn't an attempt at appeasement after the school turning down hosting the super-regional. That said the kid was pretty proud to receive it.

Not overboard at all. As your son gets older it will mean even more to him. Especially later in life.

Didn't they have the best record in their conference or win conference championship?
I looked it up, they won their conference and regional championships. It should say on the ring. They deserved it, has nothing to do with going to TCU.

It does. That said it has a lot to do with going to the super-regionals for a team that went to the CWS in the '80s and has done nothing since.
The administration fuc#ed that team. They lost 4-1 and 6-2/4 (can't remember). If they get beat 8-1 and 11-2 you could argue that home field wouldn't have made a difference. There was no small amount of blowback. I can safely say that people were worried about their jobs.

Really cool. Even if it is an attempt at whatever. I'd show that sucker off.. Wave with it, point with it, shake hands with churchgoers, make sure to use that hand when covering my mouth while gasping, shading my eyes from the sun, etc. Don't know if I missed anything

It's not really the wear everyday type of ring.
I see it as a personal accomplishment and something that one can off to the kids someday.

Definitely a conversation starter. Employers love to hire recent grads with sports experience. Wear it to job interviews!
It's common to get a ring for winning a conference championship.....which they did. No reason they wouldn't add the Regional Championship to it
My son got a nice ring when he graduated from Iowa. Not nearly as cool as yours and I probably care more about it than he does, but a wonderful momento of a great time in kids' lives. And I agree, not a bad thing to wear to job interviews. :-)
The really shitty thing for me was... So, I work a lot during the warmer months here, like I get up at 3:30 am. Saturday I'm about 20 minutes from the stadium when the kid has a manager send me a message saying he's not playing. I turn around and go home (I'm a Keegan fan, not an ISU baseball fan). Then Sunday, not having any reason to believe he'd play the kid, (I mean why would anyone in their right mind start a kid leading their team in BA), and when the game was over and I made it home I'd get about 2-3 hrs of sleep, I stayed home.
First of all, that is a nice looking ring. I love the colors. There are probably many people on HSBBWeb who have won conference, regional or even CWS rings. I know a couple folks with UVA CWS rings and they are gaudy and beautiful at the same time. My oldest son is probably one of the most non-materialist people I know yet he loves his college conference championship ring because of what it represents...sharing an accomplishment with 30+ teammates.
Its not overboard. Wear it whenever and wherever, and wear it with pride. Many hours of hard work went into that ring!

My son also went to a mid-major, and to regionals one year and got some bling. However, it was for winning their conference, not for post season.
