Being the avid and loyal SEC fan that I am and have been for many, many years I had assumed that when the dust settled after the Regionals and Super Regionals that I would see as usual 3-4 SEC teams in the CWS. Whew! Had it not been for Game 3 against FSU the entire SEC nation would ALL be sitting home watching everyone else play in the CWS on the tube! It's obvious to most now that while you may be great during the season and play consistent winning baseball especially against other ranked teams, how you play and finish the season is the key. Just goes to show that any team can beat any other given team on any day when it's needed. Parity is showing it's big ole head now in baseball just like in football. But of course, how can you NOT enjoy a "bottom of the 9th, bases loaded, down by 3 runs" JACK over the wall for the come from behind win to catapult your team into the CWS??? Not sure how deep the Gauchos(?) will go but it will sure be fun watching them there!

Same thing happening everywhere.  An awful lot of conference regular season champions got knocked out in the conference tourney.....quite a few by teams in the bottom half of the regular season standings.  Baseball is different than other sports....3 or 4 games over a 5 day span can make it tough on teams with a lack of pitching depth....or worse yet, just having your top guy (starter or reliever) have an off day.
