I never liked Pedro..... The Antics... The attitude... The beating up of old men

But, I admit, I only knew the media's version of him.

Then I saw a live interview after a lose to the Yankees in the playoffs last year.... The reporter asked a question that was made to get his goat.... He took a moment to reflect and then he said such a poignant thing.... (I wish I could find the quote-but I can't so I will paraphrase as best I can) He talked about how 15 years ago he had 25 cents in his pocket trying to catch a bus near his home town to get home.... He was laying beneath palm trees... looking at the sky.... and now he has this great life and he has baseball to thank for it... The story moved me and I realized the media hype had jaded my opinion.....

Pedro moves to NY and you no more hear of the trash talk about him--and his is having a Cy Young Types of Year

Manny--well Manny is Manny but he sure is happy

...and having inside "connections" means that there is always more than one perception...
depending on who you talk to.

He was inmature like everybody of us at some point, specially for a guy that had to work real hard in adverse situations to get where he is now. But for some others that with all kind of opportunities in this country only can show bitter racial despise, is too sad.
