Perfect Game just released their updated Top 500 prospects for 2015 rankings on their website. I was trying to explain to someone who PG was and apply context to my son's ranking. It got me to wondering - in approximate numbers, how many kids per class does PG scout? I'm sure it varies year to year and class to class, but in rough numbers, I wonder how many? 2000? 5000? More? Does anyone have any idea?

9and7dad,
I would have to check our database to get the exact number but it is well over 100,000 every year.
I understand that this might sound like a impossible number, but consider this...
We see over 60,000 players in the month of July alone and well over twice that at other vents during the year. This is due to the large tournaments. Every player is scouted, notes entered into the database. We see another 10,000 at showcase events. And we also scout some of the other big events we are not in charge of.
Once in awhile we miss a highest level prospect, but for the most part we have seen the top guys. Over the past 7 years more than 80% of all players drafted have been to PG events. That includes more than 95% of the high school players drafted. Most of those we missed coming out of high school were drafted out of college.
I was hoping you might respond PG staff - thanks! Those are incredible numbers you have posted. My son has been attending PG tourneys for the past couple of years, so I figured the numbers were large. I trust the numbers you post are for all classes, so it would be safe to apply some logic that on a per class basis the number would be smaller, with it weighted to the classes closest to graduation. In other words, I'm sure you have a lot more 2015 data than maybe 2017 or 18.
Appreciate the feedback and son is very pleased with his current ranking on the list(and I am too).
