I have no idea if this will do any good, but it's certainly worth a shot to try to regain the Olympic committee's respect for our sport. Please spread the word amongst your baseball contacts.

I don't feel that re-instatement is the issue. The fact that the IOC and specifically the European faction is flexing it's muscle and spatting on American sport culture is what bugs me.

Let's find a sport the French are good at.....Oh, that list is short, there are none.

If there was one, maybe, they should put that on the chopping block.
A U.S. Navy Admiral was attending a Naval conference that included
admirals from the U.S., English, Canadian, Australian and French Navies.
At a cocktail reception, he found himself standing with a group of half
dozen or so officers that included personnel from most of the other
countries.

Everyone was chatting away in English as they sipped their drinks but a
French admiral suddenly complained that, whereas Europeans learn many
languages, Americans learn only English. He then asked: "Why is it that we
always have to speak English in these conferences rather than speaking
French?"

Without hesitating, the American Admiral replied, "Maybe it's because the
Brits, Canadians, Aussies and Americans arranged it so you wouldn't have
to speak German."

A true situation and quote that got Admiral "Snuffy" Smith in a little hot water publicly but he had many behind the scene "atta boy's".

Not quite sure why the French are the bad guys here. Didn't they just get screwed themselves when the IOC unexpectedly awarded the 2012 Games to London instead of the favorite, Paris? The real problem is with the insular and unassailable IOC, which is a culture onto itself, comprised largely of self-important sovereigns whose corruptibility is legend. It is anti-Americanism to be sure, but it is of a peculiarly Olympian brand.
The purpose of posting the link was a bit selfish --- not an invitation to politics. I guess you all missed the thread in After High School:

hsbaseballweb players playing for the UK National Team

Three of "our" players here might have had the opportuntity to participate in the Olympics. I was hoping for some support from baseball folks, silly old me.

The petition was started in Europe where our sport is actually growing in popularity. Obviously, the UK baseball community has a bigger stake in this as the host nation; hence the number of names from there.
