There was a recent thread that listed everyone's favorite place to eat while in the Atlanta area. If you can't find it, maybe someone can resurface it for you.
Good luck to your son and I hope you have a great time.

how many teams make it to bracket play on Thursday ? top 40?

34 Pools, Bracket has up to seed #34, so only 1 team per pool advances.
Typically the #1 team from each pool advances. Due to the small amount of teams/pools, some pools in the 14u WWBA allowed the top 2 teams from a few pools to advance.

In the 14U, a couple pools had two teams advance. I think that was more the result of not reaching a multiple of 8 for a pool (play everyone in your pool for & games). So the pools that had two teams advance had more than 8 teams. In the end, same result.
My son and I will be there. I have mixed emotions about this tournament....will we be competitive? will we get blasted every game? We did the WWBA U14 Memorial tournament last year and did pretty well so I guess we have a chance to hang with some of these teams that fly in players from all over the country. My son's team is just a bunch of guys from a small southern town who have been together since they were 8. Found out last night from coach that son will be pitching against one of the elite teams this weekend at Lake Point. Hopefully it wont be a replay of the MLB all star game HR derby. Also will be interesting to see if he can hit a 90 mph fastball. I am determined to have a good time!

My son's 14U team will also be playing. If your team name has 14U in it, there is a good chance that your son won't see the very rare kid who can touch 90. They will be saving those guys for the 15U teams...or at least that's what I am hoping for. :-)
Oh we saw the kid throwing 90+! He pitched against us for 5 innings. It was a great experience and a great atmosphere with all the fans and scouts watching. Back from ATL today (son had game on west side of ATL this morning so got a ride with teammate) for work and then back over to finish up Tuesday and Wednesday.

Good stuff! So far, son's team has seen mid 80's.
We have all but one 2020 and faced a team with nine 2018's yesterday and they basically kicked our teeth in. LoL
I told another dad on our team that for the first time this season, we were just overmatched. All in all, still a great experience for the boys!
