Wow. Just wow.

Things that jump out at me here (besides the obvious, terrible decision by the pitcher):

1. The runner from 2nd base makes it point to come around and score still, which made me chuckle

2. Coach does a great job of grabbing the pitcher and getting him out of there-both coaches do a great job of stopping a brawl

3. Good example of baseball players who do sometimes try to purposely hurt each other (argued in the home plate collision thread). It obviously happens.

That pitcher was looking for trouble well before the pass ball.

On the 1st pitch, the hitter requests and is granted time.  He and the umpire both step out.  Did you see where the pitch went?  Directly at where the batter had been standing.

The ump gives a look at the pitcher then points into the dugout.  I wonder if he was giving them a warning?

That pitcher better hope he never gets an AB against this team.

My guess is that the pitcher is a football player too. I had the same thing happen a couple of weeks ago in a rec basketball league where my football player point guard was getting beat on a fast break and the FB instincts just kicked in and he lowered his shoulder and leveled the kid, and even included a celebratory dance. Once on the bench where he had a chance to think about it he felt badly for taking the kid out of the game. Split second decision making isn't always their Forte at this age.

The ump should have never given him time in the first place....it was much too late.  I don't blame the pitcher for throwing that pitch anyway.....you're taught to do that to avoid arm damage.  I'm not sure he was throwing at anyone, it's just what happens when you try to stop/slow your pitch in mid windup.

That being said, a 3-game suspension isn't nearly enough.  If he's a starter, he may not even be in the rotation for that series anyway.  In my mind, it should be a season long suspension.
